Come on... great film... very underrated. Watch it for the performances, the story, and... just... oh, everything about it. Hoffman was amazing, and DeNiro wasn't far behind.

I wouldn't call this movie "amazing" but it's very enjoyable and underrated.
De Niro and Hoffman were terrific but the story was a bit contrived. Well directed by Schumacher. (No more Batmans, please!)
Definitely worth watching!

Interesting movie. It is a mix of stereotypes and going against stereotypes. What I liked least is this sudden slur on womens courage at the end; Walt and Rusty are in the ambulance, they just successfully vanquished the criminal, in which Rusty played a big and courageous part. Says Walt; good they hadnt cut your balls off yet......and Rusty grins and feels validated. In other words, you gotta be a man to be brave. Old-fashioned....
But I liked that the film shows that people can change, and come out of a rut, in more ways than one; and I like the political speech Rusty gives to tell the Republican gays that they are being hypocritical; and the exuberance of the gay guys; and more.
Thinking...not many positive womens roles. Tia is the only one.
The acting both of De Niro and Hoffman is, well, flawless.......
I may be wrong but i interpreted the line (good they hadnt cut your balls off yet) differently. I thought it was simply a reference to the fact that rusty still had cash available as he hadnt undertaken the operation and insisted that walt be taken to the best hospital on offer. Does anyone else agree with me in reaching this conclusion?

I saw the movie for the first time last week, and immediately wondered if he won any awards for that performance, because it was not only amazing, it was BREATHTAKING, and I could watch it again and again. It was stunning. I've read a couple of negative reviews, and they just proved what I've always thought about reviewers--they have sh*t for brains. I love this movie, I don't care about the damn FLAWS, this is a great movie, and Philip Seymour Hoffman is brilliant.
Reviewers should all go take a leap. Who needs em.
well personally i was seriously about to buy this movie but the plot made it sound weak so I passed..
In other words, you let someone else make up your mind for you.
sharein other words, I read someone elses plot outline/review/what the film is about and realized that I would dislike the movie.
if it was letting someone make up my mind for me, I wouldn't have bought it if someone said "don't watch this, you will hate it."

I've looked forward to seeing this for years, but my Blockbuster never had it. We just got it from Netflix yesterday and I was kind of disappointed. It was good, just not as good as I had hoped it would be.

I just recently purchased this movie...just going by reviewers, I thought I was probably setting myself up for a large disappointment, but surprisingly I really enjoyed watching this movie.
Philip Seymour Hoffman's performance by far surpassed DeNiro's. He definitely kicked ass in this movie.
I'm also a huge fan of DeNiro, but his performance was really lacking. I didn't care for it.
All in all, it isn’t a terrific movie. The storyline is pretty basic, but it's entertaining and if you’re a fan of PSH, then you should check it out.
I totally agree so underated and sadly when other crappy movies are over rated (cough cough Hilary duff) speaking of underated Wilson Jermaine Heredia in my opinion was amazing as cha-cha I mean you have to be a very talented man to play a really pretty man pretending to be a really pretty woman you Know what I mean?
(I am soooooo sorry if you like Hilary Duff i'm just not a fan)(a huge understatement but oh well)
