Why he was never nominated and never WON for this performance is beyond me. What the hell was the Academy thinking???
His voice and gestures were perfect.
At the very end, Rusty and DeNiro's character are in the ambulance, but a minute later as the credits start to roll, a fight ensues, a lot of the drag queens appear, and Rusty seems to have been pulled out of the ambulance. But when they shut the doors of it, it said MORTUARY.
DeNiro's character didn't ultimately die at the end, did he??? Please explain that scene. I looked away for ten seconds after seeing PSH hand over all his cash to the ER guy. And then, I looked up again, and the van was black, the fight ensued, Rusty was kicked out and it said MORTUARY. Explain, please.
