...for this. He's is absolutely outstanding. Hilarious, heartbreaking, and got ALL the physically down perfectly. The hand gestures, the voice, the walk, all of it. He is endlessly re-watchable.

Agreed. PSH was SHEER PERFECTION....GENIUS......FLAWLESS in "Flawless". And, I love seeing him basically obliterate "The DeNiro" on screen...no small task, for certain. DeNiro was great. But Hoffman's character was out of this world....he was completely embodied by another spirit.
Why did he not win an award? Way ahead of his time, as are many code-breaking and gifted artists, historically. Nobody at the time was ready to applaud a character for whom Americans disapproved, least of all the muted, insular "Academy".

The film overall was so-so, but PSH was masterful, yet again showing what incredible range he had as an actor.
