Period Docudrama

40 minutes into this movie I felt every line was so utterly boring and self important and prim and proper, I just wanted to kill everyone, I wanted to kill them all. I felt like I was watching a period documdrama.

"The Winslow Boy" is a very subtle and understated film. I understand perfectly well that it is not a film for everyone. What I don't understand: What exactly do you want to discuss here?

That's a good question. Honestly, I thought the acting was exceptional, and the ending also is very good, I just had a lot of difficulty getting into the... well, everything up until that point. I suppose this type of movie is more up my mom's alley than my own.

What do I wish to discuss though... I dunno, I guess I was just ranting.

I took my wife to see it based on a sterling reviews, but it turned out to be a complete snoozefest. I don't think it translated well for an American audience, in part, but mostly it was a completely limp production with unsympathetic and lifeless characters and pacing that made the spectacle of paint drying into breathless excitement by comparison.

For a far better treatment of similar subject matter, try "Doubt".
