i would have to agree about the romantic thing and pretty much everything else you said. it's a sophisticated movie if you ask me and is pretty unique to.

it's within my Top 42 movies in general. i give it a 8.5-9/10.

i just finished re-watching it again just now on Feb 9th 2016 and it held steady. my previous viewing was July 14th 2013 (before that was sometime prior to Dec 27th 2011).

It's also one of my favorite movies of all time.

It's far from perfect though, but they were able to capture something magical nonetheless.

I love the -trust- concept all the way through the film.

When Thomas makes the 10 million dollar proposal on the beach,

When Catherine gets out of the car in the middle of the night because of jealousy,

Their -first date-.

When Catherine comes to his apartment and he tells her that they are leaving together
and that he's going to trust her and says something like:
"Isn't that what you wanted, my trust?"

And obviously the last couple of minutes of the film.

Those scenes are the ones I can remember as my favorites, plus the entire atmosphere of the film and Sting's version of Windmills Of Your Mind.

A solid 10... even though it's not a perfect film, for example how where they able to put the stolen painting into the briefcase, I also dislike the tropical music when they arrive at his island mansion, having sex on the stairs must have been uncomfortable, also the very last line was kind of dumb... she says something like "I'll break both your arms" as if it was something sexy?? I don't get it.

But besides those minor details I really love this film... wish they had been able to make The Topkapi Affair when Brosnan was still interested and a bit younger... actually I would still watch it, but I doubt it would be a hit no matter how good a film they make... too much time has passed since the original (remake), plus apparently they are already moving forward with a new actor.

Well ofcourse it has some flaws like any good film but the good stuff is more.

I did like the music when they got to the island, it gave the scene a fun feeling and lights up the mood a lot and the sex on the stairs well maybe uncomfortable and a little dangerous but seems like they didn't mind at all hehe.

I agree with you on the last line it was a little weird and didnt make much sense and yes the painting looked a little big for that briefcase.
