The painting and the briefcase

Why show crown jam the painting into the briefcase, then smash it shut, then open it and it's perfect? Why not make the original painting something that would fit into a normal briefcase.

Hey I read somewhere that somebody made that decision after the fact because they didn't want to confirm that Crown basically had just destroyed a painting. I know this topic was discussed in this message board.

One thing I never saw mentioned in this message board (except the post I made about it) was that I think Crown actually set up Rene Russo's character to be the investigator, before they'd ever even met. :)

Why would he do that? So he could pork her on his island??

wait what??

The painting in question is folded down the middle, yet when Crown removes it from the briefcase (back at the house) you can clearly see the frame intact.

I agree with the OP, having a larger briefcase would've made more sense. Or maybe have the briefcase extend off the bottom to accommodate the size. Not freakin fold the painting in half.
