HOW IS IT?

I am another one who didn't see Lord of the Rings. Didn't get the chance. I get the impression that it's good. Since The Rings movies are based upon books loved by millions for decades, I expect them to be better than kiddie type movies. The Lord of Rings books are aimed more for young teens and older than for kids. I have not seen any convincing criticism of the films on this thread or elsewhere. Someone said "Boring" though. But to be in a different world for three hours may not be boring. Does the film beat Star Wars as I would expect? Are the films more intelligent? The first Star Wars taken from a japanese movie was more fantasy action kiddie than intelligent.
