Kwaidon
Just curious, i haven't seen this yet. When i read a few reviews of it, it sounded sort of Kwaidon-ish. I loved Kwaidon(and most kobiyashi movies). Are they similiar and is this worth checking out?

shareThis film is far more disturbing then Kwaidan. Its full of human-degradation and mutilation, and for the most part gives a very hellish atmosphere. Think eastern Nihilism meets Dante's inferno, and you will have a good picture of Jigoku.
However, if you can stomach the content, you will find it is a very stylish and well made piece of horror. The surrealism really works, and the direction is surprisingly quite classy. If you are a fan of horror check this one out, but it is a bit more extreme then Kwaidan.
Kwaidan is far superior. Try Ugetsu monogatari (1953) instead.
shareI have never seen this film (I will watch it soon) but I do know that 'Kaidan' (or ''Kwaidan'' in the older, now-defunct pronunciation) is a work of art whether it is disturbing or not.
I do look forward to 'Jigoku' though.
