Confusion over Jonah and the Wailers

It is mentioned here that the "St Louis Missouri" number is sung by Jonah and the Wailers. The only group I could find on the web with that name were from Athens, Georgia, formed in 1999. How could they sing a song in a movie made in 1964? The musical vocals of the song in the movie is closer to that of Louis Jordan and His Tympany Five than it is of this Georgia group.

Could someone please clarify the confusion here? Who (for example) decided to list this group as the singing Bears on Train? The only singing credit in the entire end credits was given to James Darren (for his Ven-o number). There was no credit given to the singing Bears.

I tryed searching for them too. beautiful voices.
but I found over the decades a lot of groups used that name.
I even tryed contacting Hanna-Barbera and asking them. only thing they can find of them is they must have just been a studio house band or something,
like the mellomen sang for Disney projects. Columbia owns the film now, you might email them and ask them.

maybe we will never know what became of Jonah and the Wailers.

I have a copy of the soundtrack album of "Hey There, It's Yogi Bear" (which is *very* hard to find - I'm glad I did).

On the label and in the liner notes, it credits "Jonah and the Wailers" as singing "St. Louis, Mo."; they *didn't* disclose who the group members were.
