According to the script, Michael is about to zip down his pants and piss on his father when Christian interrupts him.
I'm pretty sure Michael says in the movie that he's going piss on him. Or eludes to it at least. Why the hell would he rape his father anyway??? That'd be way outta character for a racist/male shovenist type. Just think about it, man.

My first reaction was that he must've raped him. Michael is portrayed as a bit of a thug and a hot head. He already slapped about his brother and former lover. It seems within his idea of justice to hurt someone back and since his dad raped his brother, it made sense to me that he raped him or was about to rape him back. But if the script doesn't say it, then i guess maybe he just pissed on him - the lesser of two evils.

So I thought he was about to rape him when the others came outside. But I guess not. Pissing on him is pretty funny though. That's a pretty extreme display of disrespect.

He raped him or was about to rape him. The mother ran into the house very distressed on the verge of breakdown saying "They mustn't. They mustn't." repeatedly. They mustn't what? She was referring to Michael and his father mustn't "have sex". She ran in there when it was clear Michael intended to indecently assault ie rape his father. That why he kept instructing the father to "Lie down. Stay down. Stay lying down!" He plan in his rage had been to kick the **** out of him and then rape him. He was going to rape his father the way the father had raped the other children. As in "See how you like it."
I think Christian got there in time and Michael was zipping his pants down to rape him..rather than zipping them up because he'd done the rape and had finished.
The poster did make a natural assumption given the characters involved and how we have been introduced to the members of this family and the beyond vile and awful things they do, have done and are capable of.

I agree, I don't find it hard at all to imagine that he could have raped his dad, but I was more inclined to believe he would more likely piss on him than rape him.

A: He is drunk as hell
B: He would need to be gay to achieve a hard on
C: Sexual relations with a family member is not easily acheived.

No, Michael certainly did not rape his father. Even without the script, you can see in the film that he is about to pull it out, not putting it back in. That's why Christian pushes him, to stop him from pissing on him (probably, I guess you could argue that Michael was intending to rape him, but seems unlikely) Furthermore, the father has his clothes on; unless Michael was some kind of magician, there's no way he can rape someone who is still wearing his pants.
shareSince Michael had clearly lost control of himself, I thought that his intention was to rape his father. Keep in mind that Michael has 3 kids - and I assume that his father must have spent time with them in the past. This probably made him realize that they were in danger, and that adds more fuel to his rage (already fueled by liquor and the news about the raping of his brother and sister).
In any case, it's a real good movie. Only thing I would like to add is that, after the first speech, I would have left, with or without my car. I don't think I could have sit at that table again after that.

Seriously, when was the last time you watched this movie? If you watch it again, you can see Michael a) unzip his pants then b) put his hand in. You can argue that Michael was ABOUT to rape his father (though again, as someone noted above the script says pissing so I'll go with that), but you can't argue he ALREADY had raped him
Furthmore, "they mustn't" doesn't mean "they mustn't rape", it just means "they mustn't." She didn't mean rape, she didn't mean pissing - she just meant "they mustn't" - she had seen Michael beating up his father and she became hysterical.
Why would Christian push down Michael if he had ALREADY raped him? That makes no sense.
And censorship? That's ridiculous, we've already seen Michael and other characters nude and having sex in this film. Why and who would be censoring this? What evidence do you have?
Honestly, you're reading way too much into this with absolutely no basis besides the fact that Michael was fiddling with his pants and the mother said "they mustn't". Those two things do not in any way, shape, or form indicate rape.

i do not no if he was going to urinate on him or he was going to rape him, but i do know that he was stopped before he did any of those things. It says so in the original script that he was unzipping his pants not putting them back on.
shareit seems a lot more likely that he would piss on him. regardless of the fact that he was a thug or whatever, do you really think he could bring himself to actually rape his father, no matter how much he wanted revenge. of course he was furious, but the idea of him raping his own father is a little extreme i think, i didnt even notice the unzipping when i saw it so i thought when the mother said they musnt she just meant musnt fight in general, or whatever. they musnt isnt specific to rape or pissing, or anything. just they musnt do what theyre doing, whatever it was. i really think that the idea that he raped his father is very very extreme. not just cos its hypocrtical but i dont think it would make sense for that character or anyone, even pay back. its just too much. only what i think though. its left a little unclear so maybe we're meant ti interpret it how we want to .

He's basically disgusted and angry at his father, so a more "normal" reaction to these emotions would be to piss on him, not rape him. Being a hetero, I doubt it would satisfy him more to rape his father than to piss on him.

Anyway, I thought he was going to rape him too, he was drunk, he had the personality of a psycho throughout the entire movie and it just made sense to me. It is unlikely he could have raped him under the circumstances, it was his dad, he was drunk ----- but it was just what he had in mind in the situation, we didn't see him go through with it so thinking of giving your dad a terrible revenge doesn't mean he was actually going to rape him or we would've been able to do it eventually. I think the wife's word "they mustn't" also suggest that the idea of rape is not entirely stupid. It could be either way really. I just had rape in my mind.
