Its interesting how in this movie...

... the main antagonist Helge, even though he is guilty of some of the most heinous offenses here, is never really presented as an outright evil VILLAIN who is in vengeance to be destroyed at all costs and at least at one point in the movie, he even comes across as being oddly and perversely "sympathetic" and I wonder if this was all intentional on Thomas Vinterberg's behalf and also if there was meant to be some kind of statement made here?

Or maybe life in general just doesn't work that way where good defeats evil and everyone lives happily ever after, but then in real life also, as a civilized human being, would you not want anything other than to have a guilty incestuous child molester like this to be punished, behind bars and held responsible and treated rightly with contempt for his terrible deeds? I think most of us normal would!
