It ruined Nickalodeon

Nick was the channel it had it all now I watched the channel religiously for my childhood years and it was the best... until catdog. You would think a show with Tom Kenny, Billy West, and Carlos Alazraqui would reign supreme but no it's not funny amusing or good at all this made me almost stop watching nick completely, but this wasn't the one that made me stop watching completley that was left to Wild Thornbery's

reply

What really ruined nick was Spongebob. I think Catdog was ok in its first season. After that bird came in was when I relized I was watching crap.

reply

R.I.P OLD NICK. Thanks for all the good memories. You were truly original.

How'd Spongebob ruin Nick? its a funny show!! and so is CatDog. CatDog is a little more underappreciated, I mean its totally original and a lot of the episodes were really funny!! I dont see why so many people hate this show.

reply

I agree, pastymiles. CatDog is a great show!

spongebob and catdog rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Catdog did not start Nick's downfall if you ask me. Sure, there were a couple lame shows before Catdog (Wild Thornberries), but, in my personal opinion, it was Rocket Power that ruined Nick. Rocket Power wasn't terrible, but it was mostly a below-average show. And most of the shows releassed after that were pretty much below average (with a couple exceptions).

But no, CatDog was actually one of the last shows on Nick that retained the classic formula of Nicktoon shows that started in the early 90's.

Sure, Nick's Downfall started at Rocket Power, which is one of the worst shows ever to be shown on television, but sank lower when the Fairly Homoparents premiered. Then Romeo premiered. Then Danny Phantom. And now The X's and Teenage Gaybot. CatDog was pretty original, but Rocko's Modern Life and Ren & Stimpy were the best things to happen to Nick. Now they're gone, and there's mostly nothing on in the daytime now. Then a light appeared and Nicktoons premiered on TV. Now they've ruined it by putting less of the good shows on and more of their new beloved crapfests.

Strike how old were you when Catdog was on?

By the power of EPSON!!!!!

reply

I liked catdog very much. I only watched initial episodes. In my country they did not show 2nd season thereafter and I checked net and found those episodes were reportedly dull.

Anyway Cat dog was GOOD.

But I HATE HATE HATE Spongebob......why the *beep* they continue showing it?. Its such a retarded tv show.

reply

I don't agree catdog was a good show.

But why all this hate for Rocket Power?

Am I the only one that thought that show was awesome?

Sure it was different then the old shows but I don't think it was different in a bad way.

Also I an 24 so I grew up on 90's Nick. I don't find most of the new stuff on Nick appealing but there are a few and far between new shows that I like.

reply

CatDog did NOT ruin Nick. Fanboy and Chum Chum, and anything else that came out after Avatar: The Last Airbender did.

reply

I thought it was when they got too high in the early 2000s and just fell apart. Now it's just the same cartoons two hours every day, lame live-action, and subject of a rant that is proof I'm getting old. But this couldn't have left a bruise. And the Thornberrys kicked ass.

What did you consider as the golden age of the channel? I think the 90s were (and in actuality, a whole cartoon renaissance).

See I think Rocket Power and CatDog were the two last good shows on Nick b4 it went to crap.

no catdog was awesome, anyone remember " there's only one thing standing your way, one thing, ouch!"

this gurl just lost her mind

yeah i think that the shows that totally ruined nick were the wild thornberry's (just wasn't very popular but it was ok), rocket power (which was really gay), and the fairly oddparents (which was really good at first but then they started to play it WAY too much so that in one year you've probably seen every episode like 20 times)
so yeah
oh wait nick also started to REALLY suck when they got rid of All That
sure it wasn't good but it was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than the crap on now like iCarly and Zoey 101 (where the girl is pregnant in real life lol)
i kinda like ned's declassified though (i feel so guilty)
but yeah most of nick's live action stuff is just terrible

reply

False false false. I agree with whoever said it was early in the 2000's that Nickelodeon started to suck. They got rid of all the good cartoons and stuffed live action stuff in instead. They're only playing Avatar, Spongebob, and Fairly Oddparents now, right?

I'm surprised the channel's still alive.

reply

Catdog = good. Rocketpower = bad.

reply

CatDog was an ok show, but nowhere near as good as the Nicktoons that came before it. Rocket Power came around the time Nickelodeon starting to get worse. I think As Told By Ginger was Nickelodeon's last decent Nicktoon. After that it all went to Hell.

reply

I agree that it was an ok show. I didn't think it was bad. I just wasn't interested in it. That was the time I kind of lost interest in Nickelodeon. I never saw As Told By Ginger or Rocket Power either. The last good cartoon I saw from Nickelodeon was Invader Zim. I'm 26, by the way.

reply

Ned's Declassified actually has that old-school Nickelodean humor to it. It wasn't the greatest show, but it was a lot better than everything else they have on today. Other than that, I agree that in the early 2000's was when Nick's downfall started to occur.

I was only 7 when this show came out.

God, is there a troll topic on every IMDb board!? And this is from 2005...if people would just IGNORE these troll topics, they would GO AWAY. Instead, we keep them at the top of the threads list by posting in them! I wouldn't even waste my time here myself (the TC can't even spell "Nickelodeon" right), but for the person who idiotically said

What really ruined nick was Spongebob. I think Catdog was ok in its first season. After that bird came in was when I relized I was watching crap.
Spongebob ruined Nickelodeon?! Come ON. That's ridiculous! There's a reason why MILLIONS of fans love SBSP and why it's been on the air for over 10 years. People like Rocko's Modern Life but somehow hate SBSP, and they don't even realize it's practically the same team that worked on Rocko, who went on to do SBSP!!

People HATE to have their warm, happy, fuzzy childhood memories "trodden on" by change and progress, so they blame all the current TV shows for "ruining" {insert childhood memory here}. For every TV show messageboard, there are the same kind of people complaining that the following decade ruined the era when "shows were good." Hell, I remember when Nickelodeon first came on TV, I rushed home from school to watch You Can't Do That On Television and Danger Mouse. But that didn't stop me from realizing that new shows to follow could be funny (I don't like them ALL, but there are good ones), and it wasn't their fault that the older shows weren't on anymore; old shows just fade out of favor, that's how it's ALWAYS going to be. You can BET for SURE that 10 years from now, people who grew up from 2000-2010 will be complaining that the 2020 shows SUCK, and "Nickelodeon used to be good!" Sentimentality is a very powerful emotion, and people take personal offense when they think something is encroaching or ruining their memories. But that is a mistake, and people should realize it's not the fault of the shows but that the fault lies within THEM because they refuse to acknowledge that their childhood is over.

Well guess what, you can live in the present, AND appreciate the past, without turning into a big, fat angry TROLL, trying to make everyone else as miserable as you are. TRY IT sometime.
