Question about Lauryn Hill's character

Okay, in the scene near the end where she and Chris are talking at that wedding and she's wearing a maroon bridesmaid-looking dress - is she pregnant? Looks like it to me. It may be that the actress was pregnant then (the timing seems about right)and so they had to work it in for the character, or maybe they were just hoping we wouldn't notice. Or maybe the character's supposed to be pregnant as a slap in the face to the fact that she wouldn't sleep with Chris when they were together.

Or maybe I was just seeing things.

thoughts?

I'll have to watch the movie again, but I think that in the scene with her and Chris in the apartment after the wedding, I think it is mentioned that she is pregnant.

I believe she was pregnant in real life and her character definitely was.

Actually originally Lauryn Hill was supposed to play Elise Neal's character. However, once discovered she was pregnant, she opted to play the character that we see in the film. I think they made the character pregnant in the film to accomodate Lauryn.

Good to know! That's a piece of trivia that's new to me. =)

shortandsweet1981, that's a very interesting fact. It's funny because while I was watching it I was thinking to myself that Lauren Hill should have played Jeanine. Lauren's a really good actress; I'll need to check out more of her stuff.

The characters bring it up specifically when Chris asks her "what's it due?" and she says "August." So, no, you're not imagining things.

I don't think it has jack to do with Leslie's longtime hesitation to sleep with Chris. It's partly what another poster said, that they made the character pregnant to accommodate the actress. But it works in the storyline to show Leslie's really moved on and is committed making a new life for herself with her new man, not coming back to Chris no matter how much leftover feeling they still may have for each other.

Oh yeah, the character is most definitely pregnant.

Chris: "When's it due?"

Leslie: "August 10th."

My question is, who's the father? Are we to assume that Chris is the father? or Kenny? or her fiance?
That's what was unclear to me.
