I Saw this for $1 @ Wal-mart

Should i buy it?

reply

That's where I bought mine from and for the same amount. Go ahead and give it a shot. It's just a buck. It's an "okay" film.

reply

Yea, I just watched this $1 film. I'm glad I only had to pay $1 for it. A lot of the lines were cleaned out though it seemed.

reply

Sure, go right ahead. As for myself, I could not resist buying it because I have been a longtime fan of Adrien Brody. And, like I told my friend who was with me when I got it for $1, "It couldn't be any worse than Summer of Sam." lol so true.

reply

My girlfriend bought it from Wally World for the $1 as well. As long as you don't mind watching it with sh!t edited out of it, then go ahead.

reply

Yeah my ex just got me it for a buck at walmart and it is so clear it was edited. Is there anywhere i could buy the unclean version

"The man who has no imagination has no wings."-Muhammed Ali

reply

Yeah, I bought it too. When Adrienne chucks the dude the finger and it was blurred out, I was a little confused. The whole movie is edited pretty poorly, worse than most TV versions.

I just bought my $1 copy at Wal-Mart yesterday, thanks to all for the editing info...it's going back to the store. I'm not gonna support a "purity edit" at any price!

reply

man! i didn't know it was edited.
i only watched it to fall asleep anyway, it wasn't all that great : /

reply

That's where I bought my copy as well. The editing was so bad (in the profane parts) I couldn't understand what some of the characters were even trying to say. I would rewind a scene a bunch of times and still couldn't get it. I don't know if they reversed the "bad" words or what.

someone is charging a dollar for this ? Daylight robbery

I also saw it at WalMart for $1.00 and bought it. I like it and have watched it several times. Lots of stuff to think about -- racism, interracial relationships, alcoholism, illegal drug use, murder, homosexuality, struggling artists, and on and on.

reply

I would say yes. It's a good movie. Not a perfect movie, but it's still a good one to watch. It makes you think and you see some pretty strong performances. It's a pretty good story, too. Lots of layers. It's not too preachy and not too After School Special, either. I think that it's more real than what you would see on LIFETIME or on a major net work where everything is PC and ends in a perfect little package with a pretty bow on top.

I liked it, but I did find parts of it hard to watch.

reply

I also bought it for $1 at Wally World. Eh...I am glad it was a dollar.

Brody really took the crappy dialogue and forced storyline and really made something out of it. I was impressed by his performance taking that into account.

Simon Baker is just a beautiful man...so, there's my $1 worth. ;)

reply

I haven't watched the movie yet (I actually came here to read about it first), but I guess my Wal-Mart was trying to get rid of their $1 DVDs fast: my store has them all marked down to $0.25! If the movie is a crappy as everyone seems to think it is (and what's with this editing I've read about?!?), at least I only spent a quarter on it!

I think $1 for this trash is still too much
