What if Never Been Kissed was told from Sam's point of view instead of Josie's?

Would he in all seriousness, be looked at as decidedly less sympathetic and not exactly the "hero" as he's presented in the actual film? I mean not to be a wise guy, but Never Been Kissed can easily be written off by cynics as a movie about a teacher who falls in love with a student.

Sure at the end, Mr. Coulson finds out that Josie is a legal adult, but that doesn't exactly change the fact that for most of the movie, Sam thinks that Josie is underage...and is in still love with her.
