Better than My little Eye

I loved this film and can honestly say it's the only film I've felt uncomfortable watching on my own. I think it surpasses 'my little eye' because it is just so scary and leaves you wondering at the end....did this happen or did it all happen in this crazy chippies mind. All people who read this and liked the movie spread the word..most horror movies on imdb have best horror movies message boards so your homework is to give it a wee mention on them...granted it's not the greatest horror movie ever...halloween, the shining, texas chainsaw....but definately worth a mention i think.

Now,come on,get your clothes on,+we'll stroll up to my car+get..Oh,Im sorry.Ill stroll.You fly

This movie is not better than My Little Eye.
The characters in My Little Eye are more believable, and hence easier to empathize/sympathize with. This is what makes a story successful: identifying with the characters.
The script in MLE is superior.
The cinematogrophy in MLE is superior.
The story is more plausable in MLE.
Yes, MLE has some problems of its own (no movie is perfect), but for everything wrong with MLE, it is much worse in Kolobos. Obviously MLE is the better movie of the two.

My Little Eye is a tedious, deriative film that took Kolobos' ideas for its own. It has as much depth as a paddling pool and doesn't have anywhere near the amount of tension, scares or gore as Kolobos.
Kolobos is also the only film that has unsettled me on my own whereas MLE nearly sent me to sleep.

"...doesn't have anywhere near the amount... of gore..."

Well, that explains it: you must be about 13 years old, and hence your judgement is impaired.

You are watching a movie for gore.

Believe me, there are far more gory films than Kolobos. If Kolobos "unsettled" you, you have about 100 more-shocking movies to go before you can talk about "unsettling" movies...

My Little Eye is a better film BECAUSE it doesn't rely on gore. There is something called "suspense," and when you grow a few more years, you might begin to recognize it's superior quality.

I 'm not here to take sides with either of the 2 camps.I cannot tell which of the 2 movies is better, but I have a few thoughts to share with you guys.MLE is more realistic, and the scary thing about it is the fact that such a thing may happen some time,or worse, may BE HAPPENING already...The internet is to a great extent uncharted territory when it comes to law enforcement - so the concept of this movie is very good,if you ask me.More money went into MLE,and in a certain way,it seems to have more qualities.BUT...I personally prefer Kolobos. Why? What makes a movie superior in my eyes is not necessarily the quality of the acting ,nor the realism involved. It's the DARKNESS.I like dark movies, sometimes gory ones, that take me AWAY from reality and drag me into a world of mystery...A black heart will only find beauty in darkness, some might say...And I like movies that don't serve the whole plot to the viewers on a silver plate but leave you wondering in the end whether you've understood everything or not.I do not doubt most people would prefer MLE,but that's no decisive factor in my eyes...I like horrors, and only Kolobos can be described as one.

To Ilssaridor:
If you wish to take my words out of context the feel free to do so, I mentioned Gore as merely 1 aspect of the film that utterly eclipses My Little Eye. 13 yr old? Actually no, and I find it ironic that you would use such a pathetic tactic to belittle me. When you wish to start a half decent debate and stop selectively reading and quoting what I have to say with out distorting it to "back up" your apparent "arguement". You have stated that MLE had tension, perhaps at the end this couldbe considered true (mostly due to lighting and direction - MLE's only saving grace) seemingly because my only interest in the horror genre (according to you) is gore, I blatently mentioned tension being a factor for enjoying Kolobos as well as enjoying the more psychological aspects (Kyra's apparent descent into madness for instance). Perhaps if you shouldn't be calling me a 13 year old when it is clear that you are simply unable to read a post in its entirity.
You have made assumptions in your post that you cannot possibly back up; of course there are gorier films than Kolobos (I didn't say that it was the gorest just more violent that MLE which was a shocking and scary as the sodding teletubbies), I have seen FAR better films than Kolobos in my time as well. You do not know me, and you sure as hell don't know my reasons for watching films. Stop attempting to be morally superior and don't think of me as a kid when you haven't got the intellectual capacity to fully read a post.
MLE took what was a good concept and destroyed it with absolutely appalling pacing, boring characters and plot twists that arrive far too late into the films duration to possibly elicit any excitement.

Kolobos and My Little Eye are two good movies, but I think its a little hard to compare them so much because one is supernatural and the other ins't, even though they both have the reality show thing going on.

reply

I have never seen My Little Eye and if i do it will never be to compare as there is no obvious link between them.
Kolobos is very good in it's own right and the best horror film i've seen in the last few years.
It starts off very well with some genuinely funny lines and when the chips are down there are some grisly scenes indeed. I like the ending because of it's calm ambiguity. In modern horror it is easy to pile 11 people in the house and spend the course of the film killing and end with a bang. This doesn't and while no classic it is entertaining, contains a couple of scares and some nasty moments.

A worthy nights viewing for the horror fan.
