The ignorance here is absolutely gobsmacking

From those who want to know why film makers are mean to the English (boo bleeding hoo!) to those who just think it's about bad-mouthing. The historical context of the film is that aggressive English invaders of France who then burned a young girl alive FFS! Tell me how you wanted the film makers to sugar coat that? Eductate yourselves, you complete ignoramuses!

'Well I've got two words for you - STFU'

It's also a story of a war against a brutal invading force, and what prompted an inexperienced girl to mount an armed response. Movies being the visual symbolic medium that they are, of course this one was going to show selective incidents to establish character motivations and causality. It's not meant to be an even-handed historical overview.

It's a French story, so of course the English are the black-hats. I chuckle a bit at American audiences expecting the English to be the heroes, or at least not the villains, because they're nominally of the same culture.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.
