The husbands death and some questions

A couple of questions, I thought they were christians so why the different burial....why wasn't his family told........I only saw the people from the island, Something as important as a burial you would have thought some one would have talked to her........She must have mourned him for what looked to be at least a couple of month with no family to visit her or check on her condition......there were many parts of the movie that just seemed so unreal. what man or lover would let his wife go off in a dangerous jungle with these type of people for months at a time.....Did she blame herself for her husbands death. Why did the lover fake his death......Last one, why did the lover wait so long to contact her.
