In Sweden there isn't a problem with the "f-word", apparently they have freedom of speech there... but the producers probably realised, that it might be a problem abroad so they gave it an international title (show me love) when it was distributed.
shareActually the "Show me love" title is only for the US and the UK. In France and many other countries, the title stayed the same. I think they gave it another title in Mexico too.

Åmål (the town) is a kind of byword in Swedish for a small, dead-end town. There's even an old proverb "'Well, that's a little something' said the Devil when he set eyes on Åmål"
shareIve actually been to Åmål many times and the movie don't really do the town justice. First of the town isnt that small as the movie portrays it. And the people are not that uhm well strange. The director had never been to Åmål but since it wasnt to convinient to name the movie *beep* ........... (dunno which town he was thinking of) he named it *beep* åmål.
Just my opinion.
"Åmål" is pronounced completely different from "Amal", though.

i had a lecture on this the other day and apparently the f-ing refers to boring so the title is kind of really boring amal
sharethe f word here is an adjective not a verb. the only way the f word would sound right as a verb in this movie is if Agnes and Elin really started to turned the town upside down.

shareI don't really think Swedish has different dialects so much as different regions speak with very different accents. Like I've lived in Stockholm but I also spent alot of time with my grandparents in Dalarna and there are different accents but you can still understand easily. People in Skåne can be hard to understand sometimes though.

Å is pronounced more like "Oh" or the o in "go" (but not exactly, it's kinda hard to explain the Swedish Å Ä and Ö without using proper phonetic spelling I think)...

I have no idea why was not *beep* Trollhättan instead of Åmål...the only explaination i have is that the correct pronounciation Åmål sounds a bit like HOMO.
