Angus Macfadyen is so underrated

He got no Oscar nom for his role in Bravehart, nor in Equilibrium, and he was pretty good in this film too.

Agreed. He was great in both films and others I've seen him in. And playing an Icon like Orson Welles was no easy task.

I had a teacher in college who worked with Welles on a couple of shows in the thirties and her description of him was very much like the way Angus Macfayden portrayed him in the film. At that time she was a dancer/actress and I believe one of the plays she worked with him on was the "Macbeth" he did prior to "The Cradle..." which is depicted at the start of this film.

Her sense of Welles was that he was exciting and brilliant but with so much talent as so young a man she felt he could go off on these crazy tirades at times. She also thought him to be the most exciting actor she ever saw or worked with on the stage. But she said that at that time his craft was inconsistent as when he was "on" his acting was amazing; but other nights he might seem distracted and would not be very good at all. Imagine that he was only in his early twenties, maybe 22 or 23 when this movie takes place and he was already acting, directing and producing these massive and controversial plays. He was on 25 when he did Citizen Kane!

So seems like Angus really got Welles!
