Excellent

One of my favourite films ever, saw it years ago, had a profound effect on me as a teenager. Maybe I need to see it again. Maybe it wasn't as good as I thought. What happened to Jason London?

Reminds me of Mother, Jugs and Speed, probably only because of the ambulances. Perhaps, in style, it reminds me more of Jesus' Son, which, I guess, came out at around the same time in my life. Plus it has an amazing bit where jack Black does some sort of drugs and a great Neil Young & Crazy Horse song kicks in.

Oh, it's as good as you thought -- at least in my opinion. This is a deeply disturbing film that, once seen, can never be forgotten. It feels like a documentary at times.

Jason London seems to do cheapo B-movies these days, but he's excellent here. Todd Field, of course, is well known as a director.

Interesting that you should mention "Mother, Jugs and Speed." I just saw that a few months ago (loved it!) and was thinking of this film the entire time. Obviously, they're much different in tone, but I think they capture the manic energy that ambulance drivers need in their jobs.

A lot of people compare this to Scorsese's "Bringing Out the Dead," but I think this is much better. Plus, you don't have to endure Nicolas Cage.
