Shandurai and her friend

First off I would like to give this film a big thumbs up. Beautifully crafted. Something I noticed in the film was the relationship between Shandurai and her "gay" italian friend (I forget his name.) Was it just me, or did he seem a little in to Shandurai, like maybe have a crush on her. Supposedly he is gay, but It just seemed that he like her. Maybe it's just me? Any Thoughts?
