I enjoyed this film alot but... (spoilerish comment)

I wish they'd have made it clear whom she ended up with.

Did he sell his piano to get her husband out of jail? If so, did she realize it and that is what made her love him?

that's actually one of the things i liked about the movie, the fact that it could go either way, but each decision has its tragic downside. it's really emotionally upsetting, and i think that's rare in a time when many movies are programmed to deliver the same emotions again and again. even movies that have sad endings still usually have definite endings, and the fact that the audience doesn't know what happens in this one is really a new kind of feeling. i know what you mean though; that was bothering me the first time i saw it, but upon further viewings i realized the purpose of the open ending.

on a side note, thank you for putting a spoiler warning in the title (though i have already seen the movie) i really hate it when people just blurt things out in the open, and it's nice to see that some people are still considerate in these matters :]

I'm actually not fond of the ending, but I don't know how else you would have ended it, so I guess I really can't criticize. The whole thing is just sad though - it's really painful to be in a situation where you truly love two different guys - I've been there.

Red, blue, and green are all real colors. Yellow is a mystical experience shared by everyone.

I liked the ending because it left things to your imagination. She was in love with Mr Kinsky but she had a great deal of respect and admiration for her husband, like a sort of heroe. She went got out of bed and like someone doing a difficult task, out of duty, went to open the door to her husband. I think the husband eventually noticed that her wife no longer loved him and they separeted, then she could be with Mr Kinsky.

Not only the piano is sold, almost all the furniture which we see in the beginning of the movie is sold for, in all its likelihood to secure the release of the woman's husband. Tapestry is mentioned first, then piano sell is very well depicted and a mention of gone book case too is there in the movie.
