Here's an Idea...RENT TUMBLEWEEDS

Tumbleweeds is a MUCH better movie than this one.

The acting (the outstanding janet mcteer) is much better in tumbleweeds as is the story.

The actors in this movie are annoying and natalie portman just comes across too much like a brat.

Here's an idea...don't go to forums for movies you don't care for.

Here's an idea: its called a DISCUSSION board, which means positive and negative opinions are open to be DISCUSSED.

Don't want negative opinions? Make your own board that's strictly for fans.

I strongly disagree. Just because a movie has a "name" in it, doesn't make it inferior. In fact, Anywhere But Here displays Natalie Portman's best acting to date, in my opinion (and she was actually recognized for it).

Tumbleweeds IS a great film, but it has a completely different feel to it. It's unfortunate that these films (which are similar in plot) came out at roughly the same time, and therefore will always be compared.

Ann became frustrated when Adele acted like a child. Adele was trying to live a fantasy, and thought of Ann more as a sister than a daughter. Adele often acted like a manipulative schoolmate when Ann depended on her to act as an adult.

I don't think Portman was bratty as she was often the adult in the situation.

It is hard for kids when they're smarter then the parents. And the parents put them in bad situations.

That scene where they're in the diner and she goes to call her grandmother and her mother stops her, you can tell she realizes how ridiculous her mother is at times.

It scares her.
