T H E - D R A K H - P L A G U E

THE DRAKH PLAGUE

Between all solutions to the plague released on Earth by Drakh forces, from heavy bio research to counter an old Shadow virus engineered long ago, possibly with the help of Drakh scientists, a virus that Earth might never even be able to counteract without a very specific key only few Drakhs would have, between that, and an Earth wide population cryogenic freeze to slow down the progress of the disease, except for a few very important Drakh prisoners that would be forced to suffer their own affliction,,, maybe in the end, it would be simply a certain Captain Gideon from the starship destroyer, the Excalibur, that would solve it all, by secretly managing his way to the Drakh home world, and strategically implanting special old fashion Earth made bombs all over their planet, and threatening to destroy everything and annihilate everyone in seconds without their unconditional immediate surrender, and the release of the counter agent to stop the plague inflicting Earth

At some point, our dear Captain Gideon after a few years of running around the galaxy in the quest for a possible cure to the Drakh plague he might never find, he should have had enough and might have taken the matter more directly to the horse's mouth, with a much more direct immediate annihilation threat approach to the whole Drakh home world. In the end, it would be much more within the cowboy diplomacy type character which describes himself as a not so gentle two way about it will p!$$ off a lot of folks to accomplish his mission he accepted in the first episode War Zone. Gideon if desperate enough, and with all the population of Earth about to die from that Drakh plague, he might start thinking of revenge, and an eye for an eye, a planet for a planet if the worse were to come to Earth and the Drakh insisted in their annihilation plans. I know if my whole world was destroys be others, I would personally be looking for some very serious payback, and nothing would be pretty about it

Renaud,

the Drakh plague was due to be solved midway through season 2 at which point the main Crusade story arc would really take shape. The true story arc for Crusade was to do with the earth developing weapons from shadow technology, leaving Captain Gideon and his crew being hunted by Earth Force.

Also, it would be impossible to "Bomb the Drakh homeworld" as the Drakh's home was Zah'hadum... And they were in search of a new world.
They looked on Minbar by alying themselves with members of the Religious Cast, but Delen put an end to that.
They Looked at Centauri Prime... But after what happened with the Continent of Seleni... maybe not

They are out there still looking, and driven by anger at those who caused the Shadows to abandon them.
That is why they exact their vengence on Molari and on Earth.

reply

maybe we could learn that they secretly re-settled elsewhere, possibly even before the Shadow War, and maybe their agenda was to let the Shadows do their dirty work even if they served them, and being naive enough to thing they could just take it all from them

One thing is for sure, all this is food for thought to JMS which someday might have just the perfect formula possibly an other TV movie/direct to DVD for a perfect decent conclusion of this plague and reconecting Crusade into this BABYLON WORLD

The SHADOWS looked at Centauri Prime as a place to put some of their ships, not the Drakh. That was BEFORE Z'Ha'Dum was blown up.

The Drakh DID settle on Centauri Prime in 2262, AFTER the Shadow War. That was shown in B5 Season 5. The story of the Centauri Prime, from 2262 to 2278 is told in the "Legions of Fire" trilogy of novels.

Title and ISBN#
Legions of Fire - Book I - The Long Night of Centauri Prime 0-345-42718-1
Legions of Fire - Book II - Armies of Light and Dark 0-345-42719-X
Legions of Fire - Book III - Out of the Darkness 0-345-42720-3

Years Covered
Legions of Fire - Book I - The Long Night of Centauri Prime (2262-2266)
Legions of Fire - Book II - Armies of Light and Dark (2266-2273)
Legions of Fire - Book III - Out of the Darkness (2274-2278)

Peter David made a date error in the books. Legions of Fire - Book II - Armies of Light and Dark, page 1, should be dated December 14, 2266 NOT December 14, 2267. The test on Daltron 7 is discussed on page 41. The battle with the Drakh in "A Call to Arms" took place in late December 2266~early January 2267. The Excalibur and Captain Gideon (i.e. already into the Crusade mission) are mentioned on page 128. Crusade started in January 2267.

"Legions of Fire - Book III - Out of the Darkness" is very hard to find.

I'll look it up again at the book shop, but sometimes I wish we had more that a Chapters book monopoly around here

For each novel of the three Del Rey trilogies, I bought mine, and a copy for two friends, the week before the books came out by calling my local WaldenBooks and reserving three copies. Then, they called me when they came in, and I went and picked them up. They only ever got seven copies, and after those sold out (usually within a week) you had to know to special order the books. They didn't restock, so if you went in there hoping to pick one up after a week, you were always out of luck.

Legions of Fire Book 3 is almost impossible to find, anywhere. The Passing of the Techno-mages Book 2 is also hard to find. Online or eBay is your best bet, now. It's highly unlikely that you'll be able to find Legions of Fire Book 3 or The Passing of the Techno-mages Book 2 for list price. I know somebody (Jan) who has 5 of the 6 short stories for sale on eBay right now. Those are also really hard to find.

The way I've always thought they'd get the Drakh plague cured is with some Shadow device the Apocalypse Box leads Gideon to, but in obtaining this device Gideon has to break some pretty hefty Earth Force rules. I wish to god someone would just do a Crusade book trilogy (I'd prefer the lady that wrote the Technomage trilogy as she has a good concept of characterization, something most of the other B5 book hacks lack).
