Earlier Shows

I've always wondered why KING-TV doesn't show AL reruns prior to late 1989. I wish I could see the Ross Shafer shows, and the first year of John Keister as host. The oldest show they're rerun AFAIK was from September 1989.

As much as I loved watching those shows too and it would be great to see it, but because Ross' show was in a "Tonight Show" format, with some sketch comedy, much more of the show would be very dated, compared to the ones we see at 1am, Saturday nights, I don't think it would gnerate too much viewership. I think David Leterman tried doing reruns of his show at s differnt time, back when it was on NBC and I think viewership was bad ( I know I'm probably wrong on who it was, but I know someone tried it).

Plus, with some of the stand up comedians that performed on the show and made it big, like Jerry Seinfeld, could start demanding royalties to re-air the episodes they were on, so it could get costly.

I agree, it would be very cool to see some of those old shows again. I remember seeing Joe Walsh on one of those early ones, I wish I had of had my VCR running back then.
Of the 240+ shows that I have burned to DVD, the earliest ones are from 1989. However in their 15th season shows, they have a segment called the “Almost Live! Vault” and I have seen some early skits there going back to 1986
