the fate of Samuel L. Jackson's character

I love this movie! It is exactly what a good shark movie should be: campy, action-filled and with great special effects. The scene where the shark bites Samuel L. Jackson in half? I just cannot get enough of that!

Probably my favorite unexpected death ever.

I don't know about "great special effects". The scene where Samuel Jackson is bitten in half by the shark is hilarious! I love it as a popcorn movie, no matter how many times I've seen it.

I laugh my ass off
he had a great speech... and then chomp!!!

It is a great moment in an otherwise unspectacular movie. It's a genuine surprise, especially if you saw it at the time. He was bar far the biggest name in the movie. He was portrayed as a level headed, competent leader, and just gave the rousing speech. It never occurred to me that he'd die until it happened.

When it did, it was just a funny combination of surprise, irony, and bad effects.

I love that scene,so unexpected.

All good points
It was a real shocker on the big screen and yep, the CGI was wonderfully bad

Really Bad.

Everyone in my theater jumped, it was awesome. Though I think it should have happened to a different character instead. Samuel L was just too good.
