Bad Music

Excellent cast, great writing, good movie--EXCEPT the music was so bad it wasn't even a parody of bad 70s rock. It was just plain bad. I could have loved this movie, I love Billy Connolly and Bill Nighy and they were great, as was everyone else. But the music was vapid and tuneless.

"All Over the World" was GREAT... Nothing else stood out for me, though.

Not every 70's rock song is a masterpiece. :)

Couldn't disagree more. I don't have a specific style of music that I like except it must move me in some way. I have seen this film at least a dozen times and I always find myself singing a few songs for a couple of days after. Not every song is a hit and they're not meant to be. (Cry Freedom) My husband is a professional musician and I've been fortunate enough to travel with him a few times. The portrayal of life behind the scenes and insider knowledge is spot on. The characters come across as real people who I found myself caring about. I like Spinal Tap and the "sustain" and "eleven" jokes are brilliant but beyond that the characters had no substance and came across as cartoon like. I can't recall any song from Spinal Tap and that's ok, I don't think the music was meant to be the focus. Still Crazy and Walk Hard are two of my favorite music movies. Give them a chance.

First, there was a lot of crap music in the 70's, just like now. Some successful singers have been able to get away with mediocrity.

Second, I really like All Over The World, What Might Have Been, and The Flame Still Burns.

Each to their own.
