I recently bought the video of this piece and LOVED it. It had the right mix of drama, suspense, mystery, and glamour. And of course, Helen Mirren is the best. It reminded me a little of the work she did in Prime Suspect, but of course this character was more "fleshed out". At times it was hard to follow, but after viewing it again, the pieces fell into place. Quite a complicated story compared to most of the trite and simple American movies.

I totally agree. I found the movie to be a bit slow in the beginning. Once I took time to watch the movie, I was completely engrossed. It was absolutely wonderful. The story had so many twists and turns and keeps you on the edge of your seat!!

Does anyone else think that Painted Lady is very film noir. Especailly the ecene where she is the basement with the blue light. Excellent series with a very tragic ending.
