Who here loves anthology shows?

I do! I am crazy about this genre, particularly horror/sci-fi/fantasy. I am the only person that I know who feels this way. Are there any others out there like me?! C'mon, you fans of Twilight Zone (probably the granddaddy of them all), Tales From The Crypt, The Outer Limits, Amazing Stories, Monsters, Freddy's Nightmares, The Watcher, Beyond Belief: Fact Or Fiction, Ghost Stories, Night Visions, Goosebumps, etc.

You're not alone, especially on "Monsters". I wish that show was on dvd! I did, however, run across "Ghost Stories" at Walmart on dvd and bought it b/c I like this kind of stuff. I was really surprised by how good it was. I can't believe it was cancelled. They should reair it on Sci-Fi.

Glad to hear I'm not alone. Ghost Stories was a cool albeit neglected show. Damn shame it only lasted one season. The problem is that a lot of these syndicated TV programs often get virtually no promotion at all, and are given some ridiculous time slot (like 12AM or later)- almost guaranteeing an extremely small audience (and cancellation). I only discovered this show while browsing through my weekly TV guide, and the particular title, "Ghost Stories" caught my eye - I could have easily overlooked it. Being a huge life long fan of horror/sci-fi/fantasy/mystery genres, I couldn't resist giving it try. Am I glad I did. Please read my IMDB review if not already done so.

P.S. I forgot to mention in my previous post, Tales From The Darkside - another great anthology classic!

I better post here, because you need 10 lines for a comment. I could only count to six.
So, yes I love anthologies, but also movie ones! As you know, there are quite a few of them too. Or were.
Vault of Horror1973 is probably still my fave.
Like short stories, more variety in less time.

Just watched GHOST Stories, Ep 6: You'll always be mine.
As hey_o spoke of, this is one nearly the same as a 2002 Twilight Zone Ep.
As I was watching it, many times I felt this is familiar, remembering a TZ episode.. right up to my right guess of the title - To Protect and Serve. It's the perfect title for this story, any of the two.
As I recall that was about the only decent episode I saw in that TZ.

Pity as I was watching, at the time I thought GS was ripping it off! Best spisode so far. 34 to go.

I like how each episode is 20 minutes, so there's little time for padding.
I read your comments and that made me buy this set!

Oh, you also left out Night Gallery. And I bet here is one you never heard of: The Evil Touch , from the 70's. Oh don't forget Journey to the Unknown, Circle of Fear/Ghost Story. Also Tales of the Unexpected. Even Kolchak: The Nightstalkeris almost.

I'm crazy about the genre too. I especially like GHOST STORIES and BEYOND BELIEF: FACT OR FICTION.

BEYOND BELIEF: FACT OR FICTION season one comes out on DVD tomorrow. Great!

Is BEYOND BELIEF: FACT OR FICTION worth getting? It doesn't seem like an anthology show...

Has anyone else seen DARKROOM ? This was a little known anthology from 1981-82 hosted by James Coburn. It is interesting to see actors who were then unknown before they became stars such as Billy Crystal and Helen Hunt.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081849/ It has been released on dvd but only in Australia and is in region 4. Amazon is selling it.

I was a kid at the time, and do not remember this show at all. I have been watching some episodes of Darkroom on Youtube. So far it doesn't quite grab me. Although I am an anthology show fanatic, not all anthology shows do it for me. Night Gallery, The Hitchhiker, and Fear Itself are examples of anthology shows that disappointed me. But hey, everyone's taste is different, so feel free to watch and enjoy what you like. Anyone interested should go to Youtube to watch Darkroom episodes before they are taken down.

Another great, but short lived anthology show is Masters of Horror. I guess we all left that one out.

Big news, fellow anthology lovers! Updated TV revivals of Tales from tbe Crypt (produced by M. Night Shyamalan), Twilight Zone (suppose to be interactive!?), and even Amazing Stories are currently in the works! Hopefully they will be as good as the originals. The 2002 TV revival of Twilight Zone was a little disappointing. I did like Forrest Whitaker though, but would have preferred he stayed off camera during his narrations.

Update: Tales from the Darkside is also being brought back to the public eye, but as a comic book series (by IDW) instead of TV show. Not exactly what us fans were hoping for, but I guess its better than nothing...for now.
