Det. Const. Shirley 'Ivor' Novello

Does anyone else find it amusing that Dalziel refers to her by the name Ivor instead of her given name? Being who he is he picked up on her last name and made the connection to the film and music star Ivor Novello (born David Ivor Davis in Cardiff, Wales). The original Novello was a huge star in his day in Britain but little known in other parts of the world especially today.

I'm half Welsh so the Welsh side of my family kept me well aware of any and all connections to all things Welsh.

Well, I'll agree with you on that. fabledmabel.

I'm only up to season 7 but the new character DC Carrie Harris is referred to as "Tweedy" (as in Harris Tweed) by Dalziel. Its almost like some people using a system for remembering names. I should try that.

I wonder how much of that business was put in my Clarke himself. Seems like his sort of humor.
