Alfred question

This has probably been asked, and I realize this show aired while they were still creating Justice League and what not...

What happened to Alfred?

Did he stay at his master's side until he died or did he too eventually abandon Wayne? Or even was it a case of Alfred simply becoming too infirm to continue serving as mechanic/medic/butler/cook/oddjobsman for Wayne? As much as I think it would be the former, there seemed such a theme of alienation in what I've watched thus far I can't help but wonder.

Bruce Timm said he died before Bruce decided to stop being Batman.

So its most likely he was still at Batman's side until he passed away.

reply

Bruce was older than Alfred was back in his Batman days. Don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to guess he was dead. Alfred being Alfred, he was there with him until the end unless Bruce had given him a reason to leave.

reply

I've read that Bruce Timm said Alfred went to England and never returned home, implying he died while he was away.

I guess Alfred and Bruce eventually departed their ways, wonder what might've caused that.

Spider-Man 3. The Dark Knight Rises. Really, what's the difference?

Old age!

Do you really expect Alfred to still be a assisting Bruce past the age of 80?

He most likely retired and went on a long vacation.

reply

It's never addressed. In one scene, Bruce and Barbara Gordon are having coffee in Wayne Manor and Bruce says something like, "I never have managed to master the art of making the tea cakes that he did", obviously referring to Alfred but what happened towards the end of his life, we don't know.

reply

Yeah but using common sense its pretty easy to determine what happened to him.

He eventually got very old and he died. End of story. What else is there to know?

reply

I wasn't replying to your post. I was replying to the original poster's post. He asked if there was a riff between Alfred and Bruce towards the end. That's what I was replying to, the "what else" there is to know.
