Make this into a live action movie

It would really be something fresh after many years of increasingly over the top yet stale superhero movies. I enjoyed Batman Begins but am not too fond of the two that followed. Batman Beyond would offer something enticing, a chance to present new characters and storylines worked into a futuristic Gotham, as opposed to the silly ticking bomb theme of TDKR. I'd like to see some cool villains like Inque or Blight rather than the mediocre Bane and Catwoman.

Who would you cast as an elderly Bruce Wayne and Terry McGinnis? My choice would be Clint Eastwood as Bruce or maybe Christopher Lee if he can pull a convincing American accent. Not sure about Terry.

reply

I was just thinking about this today.

Bruce Wayne: Clint Eastwood
Terry McGinnis: Milo Ventimiglia (I know he can't pass for high school age but the movie can be set a few years into his career as the new Batman).
Barbara Gordon: Jessica Lange
Derek Powers/Blight: Nicolas Cage
Maxine Gibson: Kerry Washington
Dana Tan: ?

If you see a message from me, read my biography first before making a post. Thanks!

Before The Dark Knight Rises, I would have said Joseph Gordon Levitt would have made a great Terry McGuinness.

reply

Levitt's a really solid actor honestly...I got the feeling in that flick it was more the character than him that led to the performance he gave. Not to mention he's a bit old for Terry now, he'd be a good "older Terry" from that episode with Amanda Waller from JLU that closes up the series, a thirty year old Terry as such, but I don't know if I'd buy him as a seventeen year old at this point.

A live-action movie could work but I think the problem would be it might just please a small portion of the general public, most people have probably never heard of this show and only know of Batman as being Bruce Wayne and in his 30's-40's fighting crime, not as an old man helping a teenager in the future.

My ignore list is quite large.

I know this is a fan cast and all but come on dude, Chung's 30 years old, too old for Dana. Other than that, solid cast.

Spider-Man 3. The Dark Knight Rises. Really, what's the difference?

reply

It's not like there are many other Asian actresses to choose from lol...

reply

I'd love to see it made into live action!

They're around, they're just more common in...well...Asian countries :P lots of really, really good acresses from South Korea out there, just don't know how fluent they are in English. The character didn't have much in the way of an accent...was she Asian in that show? I actually don't remember it being brought up...

Yes Dana was Asian. Her last name was Tan a common Chinese name. Her dad also had Asian features. The actress who voiced her Lauren Tom is Asian.

She didn't have an accent. She was born in Gotham, so she would not have an Asian accent.

There are plenty of Asian actresses in the US and Canada. Problem is there are very few Movies and TV shows that feature Asian characters in the lead role.

reply

Dana is Asian, or half-Asian. We never saw her Mother on the show( at least I think) but you saw her Father in one episode("Rats" I believe) and he looked oriental.

I have an unbelievably long ignore list.

reply

'THING's from the East or 'ASIAN' lands are called "Oriental" not people, at least in Contemporary Times.

Wake up, Time to DIE.

I don't care. Andrew Garfield's playing a high-school student and he's 30 as well. Wouldn't be the first time. People way too old to be bought as high-school students are cast anyway all the time.

I don't like Jamie Chung as Dana for other reasons. It seems like every time a female asian character is needed she is always the first choice. She's become the official token asian girl in Hollywood. I'm kind of sick of it.

Plenty of Asian actresses to give the role to. And god knows they need it. I say Cassie Steele or Ellen Wong should play Dana.

reply

Fair point, but I'd prefer a younger actress and a better one than Jamie Chung is, I will admit that I don't think she's as bad as some people make her out to be but she's nothing to really come home and brag about either.

I have an unbelievably long ignore list.

Bruce Wayne could be played by Christopher Plummer. Alex Pettyfer can be Terry McGinnis.

reply

Actually, I'd buy Pettyfer as Terry. Dye his hair black.

His voice isn't gruff enough like Eastwood's to play this old hardened weathered Bruce Wayne.

Keaton as the elder wayne.

That's what I thought. I also like the idea of Clint Eastwood though.
