Love dark comedy but didn't laugh much

I don't think any topics are off limits in comedy. Joking about something taboo is often a way to break tension and stimulate conversation about something people don't feel they can discuss. I am a fan of dark comedy. I wasn't offended by the movie, but I don't remember laughing much. It was a powerful film, and gave me a lot to think about. It made me feel. Feel what? Not sure. Sadness for these lost characters? Disgust at some of their actions? It was more of a sadly poignant character study than a black comedy to me. I like a good laugh, but I like when movies connect somehow and actually make me Feel.

Watch it again.
I rarely gasp when watching a movie, but I did so several times watching this for the first time.
I ended up talking my workmates to go see it (I saw it when it was at the cinema) and I remember thinking to myself "I don't remember it being this funny" even though I had only watched days earlier. I also remember turning to my friends to see if they were laughing and their mouths were agape.
Now I see it as hands down one of the funniest films ever.
