Looking for Snowfire on Video?

Sorry. Owing to legalities, this movie will not be re-released. I've been in touch with a number of people about this and they all say the same thing. It has something to do with the family. I can't give more details without permission. Your best bet is to write to WGN and request that they show it again. To discuss it with other fans, use the Snowfire mailing list on Topica, which should be linked from "miscellaneous" on the main Snowfire page at imdb.

Please put me on the list also, if anyone finds it anywhere. I watched this movie as a child on WGN in Chicago. It seemed to be on often, but I haven't seen it in years. I'm glad there are others who still remember this wonderful film. If anyone finds it PLEASE e-mail me at [email protected] Thanks!

Molly died at a young age,

The reason the film will not be released is because of the scene where Molly takes off her top (so she can be branded) and also where she invites her father to beat her with his belt -it is assumed that these scenes would need to be cut.

It is also often stated that no prints exist, however, other posters on the Net have stated that they have recently seen the film which is still available for rent from some film distributers.

LOL...'none of you are right'...what a statement! I'd never claim to have the final answer on anything...but I suspect that the answer lies somewhere in the middle of all the speculation...with profit being the bottom line. Not that the reasoning makes any difference. It's either available or it's not....and I doubt there are enough of us that remember Snowfire to make a ground swell of demand to twist WB's arm! Such a pity...because it was such a good movie...and has obviously left its mark on many of us. Interestingly, I don't even remember the scenes with Molly and the branding or the beating. Is there any list that anyone knows of where we can be informed if the DVD is released *or* if they ever plan to play it on television? The chances of my remembering to check every week to see if it is running are slim to none. Like the rest of you, I too am excited that others remember this movie. There is a country song, "Wildfire", that, tho it really has nothing to do with any plot theme of the movie, somehow reminds me of Snowfire. I grew up in Chicago...so WGN's influence is likely why I remember this movie and friends here in North Carolina have never heard of it.

Here's to all of us with good taste in movies and great memories!

CAN ANYONE HELP FIND THIS MOVIE?? OR AT LEAST GIVE US WARNER BROTHERS EMAIL ADDRESS? I'd BUY this movie, and do what I could to get it released!! I had emailed someone years ago that claimed he had a copy. He DID send me the MP3 from the movie...(theme song) so he must have had something... He said it was on reel to reel. I don't think I have his email address any more. Does ANYONE know who to contact to get the ball rolling?? Thanks, ;-) [email protected]

I remember the "branding" scene... Also if we wait until they decide to release it on DVD...we might no longer be around to watch it!! You have to get some people MOTIVATED to do things sometimes. odiekarone

yes, I saw this movie as a child and still remember it to this day. A movie just release called flika put in mind of snowfire. I still remember some of the liric of the song from the movie. I would love a copy of it too

I saw in the postings on another webpage to write or email Warner Brothers in Chicago, Illinois. They have the movie on a reel to reel tape for rent at $150 per day. Flood them with email or letters. I did this once with a Bonanza group to get the old Bonanza series aired once again (several years ago)... Well, it worked!! You can see Bonanza now more than once a day on different stations! WB probably thinks there's not enough interest to make profit. The mighty dollar makes the biggest difference. If anyone can tell me WHERE to write, BUY, or get a copy, PLEASE email me at [email protected] Or if I can help get the ball rolling, I will!! ;-) DIANE

Wow I thought I was the only one who remembered this move and loved it. I used to tell the story to my daughter when she little(what I could remember) as a bedtime story. I would love to get a copy as well! I sent an email to some distributor mentioned in someone else's postings, but did not receive a reply. I would for sure help with an email/writing campaign if provided with an address. My email is [email protected]

I was born the same year Snowfire was produced. I saw this movie on TV when I was very young. I still remember it! I remember the branding scene and others. This is truly an awesome movie. I am very much into horses, have been all my life. I don't know which came first, my love for the horse, or watching Snowfire. I WANT this movie! I REALLY WANT this movie!!! Tell me what I need to do to get it. I will buy multiple copies to give to some of my "horsy" friends that are too young to even know about this wonderful movie.

How reliable is your source, and do you have any time frame?

I watched Snowfire at least 47 years ago, at a Saturday matinee in a Canadian theatre. I used to go to the movies every Saturday afternoon, and this was probably the only time I arrived late. I've wanted to see the movie from start to finish ever since. When they started bringing out videos of old movies I watched as a child, I began looking for Snowfire. I'm still waiting and hoping.

I honestly can't figure it out.

I've numerous contacts which will sell me boot copies of virtually any movie that I can think of (and there are, unfortunately, a LOT of movies that aren't officially sanctioned by the studios yet). Mind you, I'm not advocating using boots as opposed to real copies...but if there's no other alternative...

Yet, for all my contacts, for all the good intentions and a bit of bragadoccio about having "everything," there remain (at least) three movies that NO ONE HAS.

The original "Ingagi" is one...but that was a quirky roadshow pic about jungle natives carrying around a half-naked white woman. (But I'd love to check it out some time! Heck, its success was a major influence on the making of "King Kong," so it certainly has deep historical value!)

But the other two are family-friendly animal movies, which EVERYONE wants to see again.

"Snowfire," the wild white stallion that the girl befriends.

And "The Littlest Hobo," the German Shepherd dog that went from town to town and just made himself welcomed.

Where are these movies???

From what I've read on the posts on here, LOTS of people would love to see those two movies again!

So what's the hold-up?

Addendum (I'm adding this almost a year later): I've since found a boot copy of "Snowfire" (recorded off of tv). Still no "Ingagi" or (most perplexingly) "Littlest Hobo," but one out of three ain't bad (or so they say in baseball, anyway).
