Brilliant performance by Jane Horrocks

Jane Horrocks gave a pitch-perfect performance as LV, one certainly worthy of an Oscar nomination. Please note that this was the same year as Gwyneth Paltrow's Oscar win. The audacity!!!!

Absolutley agree with you! Jane's nightclub scene gave me the chills. Shakespeare in Love made me sleepy I was so bored.

The first time I saw the movie I was in complete awe. This girl deserves some recognition, I mean come on. How many people can you say can sing exactly like Judy Garland or Marilyn Monroe. When I heard it, it was almost creepy. She also did a terrific job acting. I would like to see her in more films.

Ewan McGregor recently said he was approached about a possible remake of this film but it would take place in Chicago and have a different lead, instead of Jane. His laughing and the expression on his face showed how he and the rest of us know it would be impossible to do without her.

Jane Horrocks is indeed an excellent actress. I wasn't surprised that the part of LV was written especially for her as it suits her down to the ground. She has that sweet, shy child-like girl thing going well, and I was amazed by her nightclub scene when she impersonated all those singers- she sounded just like them and performed them brilliantly- what a surprise to hear a big strong singing voice with such a soft speaking voice.

She's great in almost everything she's in; Absolutley Fabulous, Red Dwarf, Chicken Run, even those damn Tesco adverts!

Yeah, I'd have liked to have seen Jane Horrocks win an Oscar for Little Voice, then maybe we'd have been spared Gwyneth Paltrow's blubbering. LOL.

To be honest, I think the Oscars, like most award ceremonies, are a load of pretentious pomp. Let's not forget how many oscars Titanic won the previous year. And Russel Crow would almost certainly have won for A Beautiful Mind, a real "Oscar bait" movie, if he hadn't have lost his temper just because someone chose to cut his poem out of The Baftas. I think Judi Dench winning for only six minutes was a sympathy vote, because she didn't get it for Mrs.Brown. Helen Hunt, the only American nominated for Best Actress that year, won.

Judi Dench won because she gave an absolutely perfect performance. What she does with her small screentime burns into your memory.

Beatrice Straight won a supporting actress oscar for THREE minutes worthy of screentime in Network. She absolutely sends chills down your spine in that small time, though.

If such limited performances can have such a huge impact on people it is even great testament to how good they were. Both of those ladies deserved their awards.
