Michael Caine's Performance

...as Ray Say is simply brilliant! The final scene when he "sings" 'It's Over' is perfect from start to finish!

That was great wasn't it?

Yeah. I have some sympathy for him and for Mari. They are both sort of sad, pathetic creatures. He saw LV as his last chance at a forgotten glory, and even sold his prized car. Mari saw him as her last chance at love and also for the notice she perceives she would get by being with him.

And just a sidenote for the eternal brilliance of Jim Broadbent. He just always makes me happy.

I just watched it again tonight while I was putting it on a DVD. I remember making an mp3 of the song for my MC site and had it on a CD. I had other CD playing and other stuff on it and my parents were with me and this came on. I forgot I had it on there so it was a little bit shocking to hear, lol!

I thought he was great.

"She plays like a Stradivarius, man," said Mr. Dobkin of Rachel McAdams.

I personally think it was his comeback performance. He was superb from start to finish.

I liked him a lot and I can understand his annoyance about missing out on an Oscar nomination. He was better here than in the film he won the Oscar for a year later, actually.

He was fantastic and to me it was his second beautiful career moment with Educating Rita his first.

He's had loads of great career moments, more than most actors dream of, but those two were his wonderful moments for me.
