Good movie

I was surprised to find no discussion on this movie here. It's a few years since I saw it but I seem to remember it being quite good.

If any of you have seen it more recently what's your opinion??

I thought it was boring and oh-so-camp! The acting was only decent (Roger Daltrey was trying waaaay too hard). The end seemed terribly rushed, too. Like they had run out of all money possible and they had to wrap things up in a hurry. I didn't buy that Craig and Matt really cared about each other that much. It was just so low budget in script, acting, and production value.

It makes me think that people just stop watching when it starts to get darker as to escape the usual sort of ending that people come to expect out of movies like these.
I thought that there would be more people talking a bit about the ending as endings are pretty important, for me anyway, and the ending was fairly disappointing.
Well, the ending isn't the most depressing but one could think that it's possible for Craig to not recover completely and possibly become disabled or suffer from a persisting injury.

I really would have liked it if this movie had an ending like a recent gay themed movie, Morgan.

I saw it too - a few years ago now. I really liked it. Steve Bell was pretty good in it and sexy as hell. It's a pity he didn't continue acting. I did a search and it appears he is still boxing.

It was quite brave of him to take a role like that in the macho world of Boxing.

It was a okay film i liked the premise though watching it recently the acting throughout was quite poor. Though i kinda still liked it, the heart of this film was in the right place, a slightly better cast and larger budget and it could have been a 'Qboys classic'.

I've just re-watched it and I have to say the acting is pretty ropey. The best thing about it is Steve Bell but that isn't necessarily for his acting ability!!

I just saw it and it was a really great film with an awesome performance by Steve Bell and the story is really good

I'm surprise there are any more topics about this film, I hate the character of Paula

I remember reading in Advocate or some other gay magazine around the time the movie was released that Steve Bell was openly gay.

The acting is pretty ropey, but Steve Bell's performance saves it. Yes, he's gorgeous, but he is incredibly natural in this film. Just watch the scene where he first talks to Matt. An 'experienced' actor would've played that scene entirely different: they would've put huge emphasis on the "me neither" line, but its just a throwaway line in the film - much better, in fact. And the scene where they make up the morning after Craig slammed the door on Matt snorting with his mates - again, he looks incredible in that scene, but what makes it one of the most beautiful scenes in the film is Steve's completely natural way.

I loved the film. I think its flaws make it really special and, secretly, I'm quite glad it's not really famous. It's our little secret! lol.

I heard Steve Bell was gay too, but in the commentary on the DVD he makes it pretty obvious he's never had done to him what Matt does to Craig. Whether that means he's gay but active, or it means he's straight i don't know. Would love to find out :)

The good: The best acting was seen only in those soft-core pron shots. The bad: Boring though out; terribly music (that was replayed over and over again. The song's symbolism in the boxing scene mentioned in the synopsis, "The Swan," was i feel, a horrible attempt. It was very unsuccessful); as for this movie to have broken any stereotypes, i laugh. *beep* (having sex to cure any problem, not to forget, all those one-night-stands), DRUGS, TECHNO, INFIDELITY... this movie did nothing to persuade a straight audiences that there are gays who are not like the stereotypical gay person. The movie had it's heart in the right place, yes, but it lacked virtually everything that could have made it worth 95 minutes of my life.

Agreed! Adorable little film. Not the greatest but I'd certainly watch it again.
