Please answer this question!!

Is this or is it not a true story? I thought it was, but when I look up the name Junah, only stuff from the movie shows up.

"O Captain, My Captain."

reply

no...if you watch the dvd...Robert Redford talks about it being a myth.

So Junah isn't real either?

"O Captain, My Captain."

reply

No, Junuh is a fictional character. All of them such amazing characters, at that.

Even though captain Junah is a fictional character, the historical timeline/premise is fairly accurate-granted with some artistic license taken...
Bobby Jones did retire at around that time like it was in the movie, after he won his grandslam in 1930-although he retired as an amatuer so he wouldn't be eligible for prize money anyhoo, and Walter Hagen was a pro and most likely played exhibitions as much as possible, so he was looking for any payday he could get since the pros back then barely made enough to survive unlike the tour today...so i guess Junah and the 'Haig' would've split the prize money...
I wonder if Junah took him up on his offer to play exhibitons with him and hold the flag for him..lol!
