HELP on a scene possibly left out?

I have this DVD and I guess it's been awhile since I watched it. I remember a WWI flashback scene where it's cloudy in the trenches during a patrol. On the DVD, the only scenes from WWI is at the very beginning and it's a night battle.

I could have sworn there was an actual flashback while Matt Damon's character freaks out on the course where a golfball reminds him of an eyeball lying on the ground from a soldier who was blown up. Maybe it's from another movie but I could have sworn it's this one. Anybody help?

There was a scene towards the end where, Damon's character started to have panic attack in the woods where his ball had landed. The golf ball never turned into an eyeball, though. I believe this is the scene you are referring to.

You're thinking of Kevin Costner in "Tin Cup." Since Kevin's character was not only never in WWI, but he wasn't even a veteran, that scene made absolutely no sense whatsoever. It's just something you have to accept -- virtually all of Kevin Costner's movies are filled with scenes that make absolutely no sense whatsoever. It's kind of his trademark.

You were correct. This movie is actually a re-telling of The Bhagavad Gita, in which a war hero has begun to discover the futility of war and cannot find the gumption to fight. That is what this movie is about.
