CD's, paper airplanes and more ...

As a late comer to this movie and obviously impressed this being my third post, I wanted to comment on how thought out the soundtrack is. The perfectly chosen romantic songs enhanced the film (even one lyric mentioning dessert), however the CD available today is missing four songs from the OST (release date Feb 1999) and the revised CD (released Dec 1999) is no longer available for purchase which is very disappointing. Two of these missing songs; "Secret Smile" written: Don Wilson - performed: Semisonic (when Amanda is cooking the muscles, a beautiful perfect song for Tom & Amanda's moment) and "Every Little Thing He Does Is Magic" written: Sting - performed: Shawn Colvin (when Amanda is making the magic eclaire's) can be purchased separately today as singles. "That Old Black Magic" written: Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer (Tom and Amanda's dance) I have not been able to locate "just" the instrumental yet played in the movie although Jessica does a fantastic sensual short version vocal on the movie's sound track CD available today. There is also a fourth song in the film, an instrumental not on the original or revised CD's and not mentioned on-line anywhere that I can find. It is when Tom and Amanda are discussing their phenomenons and she offers dessert which cause them to float. Beautiful piece, can anyone tell me what this music is or part of?

I am attaching the link to the beautiful fan-created "Tom and Amanda Tribute" put together with the movie's stills to the song "Take My Breath Away" by Emma Bunton. I myself can envision a live-action tribute put together with the movie's clips to a song from the movie "Busted" by Jennifer Paige as being equally as romantic and beautiful.

Also to touch briefly on the prominent paper airplanes, after several viewings I realize they are Tom's symbol of his destiny and free will to outside influences - the very thing that he believes Amanda is purposely trying to take away, refusing to realize or admit that it is he who is drifting towards her falling deeper and deeper in love. Thus sealed with a kiss, he sails one final plane to her cab which she ends up holding in the last scene. Just perfect.

And lastly to put my two-cents in, I'm sure everyone feels as I do the disappointment in finding key scenes in movie trailers that have been cut from the film which have importance to the story. In this case, the trailer shows Amanda and Tom spotting each other at the market, but the film has them meet and begin conversing when the crab ends up by Tom's leg. At the market there are no innuendos that the audience can grab on to showing Amanda's attractions to Tom until you view her taking out her frustrations on the piece of chicken scenes later. I think there should have been something somewhere before this and I'm afraid it's one of those important clips that was taken out for time.
Great Film!
