Ellen Burstyn

I'm slowly getting to know more of Ms Burstyn's abilities, and OMG i cried my eyes out when she recited "Goodnight Moon" to her dying son, SOOOOO heartbreaking... i've always had a soft spot for that story, and my momma died 3 years ago here soon - so it's flipped around, but it was touching for me...
aw.. :'o( sooooo sad...
and her acting? Grrrreeeaaaattttt loved her!

loved Gillian too, and adored Angelina as usual - so quirky, i wish i were as quirky as her at times....

n-e-who JUST finished watching the movie, am i so late or what? the movie's a bit old lol, but i loved it!!!

I find it heartbreaking that it has taken you this long to discover what an incredibly gifted and brilliant actress Ellen Burstyn is. When you're ready to sample the rest of Ellen's resume, I have a list for you.

Requiem for a Dream is a great movie!
Ellen Burstyn and Jennifer Connelly are great actresses!
Darren Aronofsky is a great director!

I would also add to this list RESURRECTION, SAME TIME NEXT YEAR, TWICE IN A LIFETIME, and THE CEMETARY CLUB.

"Resurrection" is one of the most underrated movies of all time. As the daughter of a psychic, I saw it when I was a little girl in the theater (it began my lifelong crush on Sam Shepard, who is an incredible writer). Incredible movie and it is based on a true story. I've seen it so many times I could probably recite it.
Ellen Burstyn is one of the greats in acting. I have enjoyed every movie that she has been in and including the short lived series "That's Life" that was on CBS a few years back.
Maybe the Motion Picture Academy will finally give her a lifetime achievement award one of these years. She definitely deserves it.

She was easily the best part of the movie. There should've been more scenes with her and her son.

My roommate did Adam West. She said he was SO horny.

I agree with the poster who cited Resurrection and, of course, the haunting Requiem for a Dream. How Ellen did NOT win the Oscar for that performance is beyond my comprehension. She is consistently one of the finest actresses on the planet and ANYTHING she is in, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant, will be good based solely on her performance. Any would be serious actresses out there should paid heed to her body of work - watch and learn! In Playing by Heart, she is perfect and I would have liked to see more of her in it. But, what we get here in this movie is just another example of her genius. The Academy definitely needs to recognize her!
