Major flaw in this film.

This was filmed in 1999. They had video back then. Cops had cameras. With all the fancy gizmos in this guys apartment, why on earth would the police send Angelina Jolie down into the tunnels to WALK THE GRID and then Denzel asks her 'Tell me what you see?" The first thing out of my mouth was "Why the hell isn't she wearing a video camera with live feed so Denzel could have followed along on his fancy set up in his place?

Sorry, to be this was a major flaw. I can't be the only person who thought of this.

Hardly a flaw, let alone a major one. Her describing what she saw to him built tension, showed that she was nervous, and showed that he was in control but helpless at the same time. There are a lot of other viable options besides an inexperienced patrol cop describing what she sees over a radio, but they wouldn't have fit in this movie.

"The term suspension of disbelief or willing suspension of disbelief has been defined as a willingness to suspend one's critical faculties and believe the unbelievable; sacrifice of realism and logic for the sake of enjoyment."

Rhyme was grooming Sachs (I am calling her Sachs because her last name is Sachs in the Lincoln Rhyme series by Deaver). Anyway, Rhyme knew Sachs was gifted in being a crime scene investigator. He was grooming her to be the next him, and she would not have accomplished really investigating the scene properly unless she was really living and breathing it. If Rhyme was just telling her everything she actually saw then she was not really investigating. Also down the line, because Rhyme was looking to die, she would be the next NYPD crime scene pro taking over his legacy.

((Damn the remakes, Save the originals.))

Good explanation .Thanks so much

Live VIDEO feed? You mean with no wires? From deep within tunnels? That kind of live feed? In the late 1990s? LOL. OK.
