Great Santini Scene

I was just curious if me & my bro are the only ones that realized the whole scene with #2 and bouncing the earth off his forhead was a send up of the scene in the movie, "The Great Santini" with Robert Duvall. As horrible as that scene is in TGS, it is funny as hell in this one if you know where it was coming from and realize while he's doing it that that is what he is doing! :)

If you listen to the DVD commentary track, Myers admits that the scene is a Great Santini riff. Apparently, Rob Lowe came up with the idea on set.

Rob Lowe just went up a notch on my list of movie fans who know... you know - good stuff.
I will have to give the commentary track a listen to - thanks for the tip! :)
