Taxi Turvy: Popeye and Bluto compete as taxi drivers. I like that gag where Olive's head gets shoved through a traffic signal; her left and right arms move up and down and the color of her face turns red, yellow, and green.

Parlez Vous Woo: Bluto disguises himself as TV star, The International, and he tries to seduce Olive. There's a gag where Popeye kisses Olive's hand and a giant block of ice appears around her.

Popeye Meets Ali Baba and His Forty Thieves: Popeye battles the '1001 Arabian Nights' character and his 40 thieves after they take Olive and Wimpy hostage.
Hearing Popeye mispronounce "cafe" as "calf ee" is amusing. Also, I like the bit where he pumps gasoline into a camel! Also, seeing Olive walk like a camel is funny.

I REALLY want to get "Messin' up the mississippi".

I have only seen this episode one time about 20 years ago or so..Now--I want to see/get it again, for GOOD!! This episode is basically a remake of "symphony in Spinach", set on a riverboat of Olives. Popeye is supplying entertainment, and Brutus tries to outdo him at every turn, to capture the spotlight himself.

It found it hilarious the way that Brutus "helped" Popeye out by "tuning up" his instruments", (sabotaging them all),and then, after Popeye makes a fool of himself, Brutus announces "it's curtians for you" and drops the stage curtian on him. Naturally..Popeye gets his spinach for a predictable ending.

So..does ANYONE know if there are any DVD's/tapes here with this episode on it??

I was watching an episode on Boom where Popeye and Bluto compete for a lifeguard job. My favorite scene is where Popeye lights a match by striking it against his buttocks! LMAO!

The one where Popeye had to walk Olives poodle which he didn't like and they run right into Bluto and his bulldog.Bluto and the bulldog beat Popeye and the poodle so bad it had my side hurting from laughing so hard.Watch that episode without feeling for Popeye and with in open mind and see what the bulldog does to the poodle and then see Popeye try to come to the rescue with Bluto destroying him.Trust me its funny.

Ahh,if there's a steady paycheck in it I'll believe anything you say.

There was an episode on Boom where Poopdeck Pappy loses control of a bi plane. He turns his head and there's a POV shot of the Earth from space! LOL!
The punchline is far fetched, but that's what makes it funny!

I love this one too.

Also,

the one where Olive is really superstitious

and

the one Fright to the Night: where Bluto wants to protect Olive from supposed ghosts.

The one where Popeye and Brutus both go skin diving for treasure.Popeye befriends an octopus and a mermaid version of Olive Oyl.Then Brutus attacks the Olive mermaid and Popeye and his octopus pal come to the rescue.
I think the name of the episode was "Skinned Divers".

Intellectual Interludes:
What's interesting about this episode is,it was the only time someone got the best of Popeye during a post spinach eating moment.

Popeye's Double Trouble:
Poor Popeye took a real beating from Sea Hag in this one.It was Olive to the rescue this time. The way she grabbed hold of Popeye's spinach and let Sea Hag have it was hilarious.

Spinach Greetings:
Sea Hag and her vulture try to ruin Christmas.Once again it's Popeye to the rescue.

The one where Popeye fights off lightning bolts from Sea Hag.

Does anyone remember an episode where Popeye punched out Brutus, and Brutus cried"I want my dolly"?I can't remember what episode that was from.

I like the early ones better. I hated the later ones. You know the ones where Bluto knocks out Popeye early and Popeye has to have help to reach his spinach. It seems like in some cases Olive fights off Bluto for two or three minutes while Popeye is knocked out. What's up with that?!?!
