The kid at the end of th movie...

...The one who put cotton in his ears while the other kids were asleep. He was shown a couple of times during the movie. What was his signifigcance? I wasn't sure.

I would guess that it had something to do with the conditioning, just like the problem with the Delta's. When i noticed that also i thought that if they ever did a sequal to continue the story that would be a good place to continue from.

(i think?) yea.

This was my favorite part of the movie.
There is hope. Not all of them are mind numbed robots. There are those who will rebell. And the boy at the end was an example.

I've read the book three or four times now, first was several years ago in school. I loved it so much I bought my own copy again and recently re-read it.
However I haven't seen the TV movie and was reading these post to determine if it was worth seeking out...
That being said, from what I've read online in the movie the savage is bascially chased off a cliff by the media, while in the book he breaks down and participates in an all night orgy and then kills himself out of guilt.
At this moment I'm not remembering a little boy avoiding conditioning, and I would think I'd remember that... but I am sleep deprived so who knows...

Yeah I thought that was a very cool part of the movie. Very beautiful! So subtle that I didn't really catch it until I watched it for the third time probably. There's a lot of subtle meaningful stuff really.

In the book , John commits suicide by hanging after realizing he`s taken some of his mother`s Soma without thinking . In the movie, he`s harrassed by the Press and it`s left ambiguous whether he jumped to escape the bombardment of idiotic questions ,making it a suicide as in the book or was simply knocked off the building by the Press Chopper.

I also like the boy. If you watch him in the few scenes he's in he either looks bored while all the other children are happy or perturbed in a subtle way. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think John Savage was talking with his class - about Romeo and Juliet - and he seemed to be the only one interested. Then at the end he does the cotton thing. Definitely a rebel.
