Significance of the colors

After watching this film literally dozens of times, there is still one thing that puzzles me. I can get a grasp on the meanings of the water, the hallucinations, and all that, but what is the significance of the colors that appear consistently throughout the film, specifically the color green?

I understand the color red signifies the blood of Christ, as we see it everywhere. Frankie even wears several different oufits with the color in them. But what about that particular shade of lime green that appears throughout?

It's all over Frankie's apartment (the inflatable chairs, the bed linens, the artwork, etc.), and Frankie wears a couple of different pieces of jewelry of that color, and the beads hanging in the beauty shop are green. There is something of that color in almost every single scene. She also wears a couple of outfits with that color in them. So what is the significance of that color?

green is for advent but I'm not sure it is what represents here in the movie.
