Wow, what a *hard* 23!

I know the actual actress was older, but the character of Frankie is supposed to be 23?! She sure had a rough life then...did you see the bags she had under her eyes here? And her skin was so rough.

Um, ok and you look like?

Seriously, what's the point in taking time out of your day to insult someone?

While I didn't think she looked 23, it was a very minor issue. Then again some 23 year old's look 33.

You know, for some reason, I saw her as older too in this movie and yes I noticed all the wear on her face but actually, I really thought it was for effect. You know, to show that she was this wild and crazy atheist party girl and then later possessed.... I mean, she's been through Hell literally! (ha! Ok I know that was bad...)

reply

I think she was around 30 or even more, but it doesn't matter really. Usually actors are older then characters.

I find Patricia Arquette to be a beautiful woman, but was kind of shocked when she said 23, they should have made her at least 25.

reply

I got really insecure when she announced she was 23 because I'm basically that now and I look nowhere near that mature...I'm pretty sure the 'wear' you're on about was just prosthetics; because she didn't have it at the beginning. It's not that she looked aged - just maturer - maybe it's something to do with the fact she had no baby fat on her

reply

Why does it make you insecure? She was 30 when she filmed this, hence why she looks older than you. Hollywood lets actors play up to a decade younger all the time. I am 19, but don't get offended if I see a 27-year-old actress play my age on film. No biggie.

I'd be intimidated by me too if I were any other girl but me

Oh my god, really? So you drastically age between the two years of 23 and 25?

You have go be young -- please tell me you are -- because nobody over 20 believes you age that drastically once you turn 25.

I'd be intimidated by me too if I were any other girl but me

reply

Haha, you're not the only one, fiatlux.

And it's nothing against Patricia Arquette.

It's just..yea, 23? I'M 23!!

reply

Whoa. More like 36.

reply

she was more closer to 38

reply

Wasn't very clever trying to pass her off as 23, she looks 5 years older at least in this. It's no insult to the actress, but in Stigmata, Patricia Arquette does not look 23.

I agree, in some scenes, like when she's sitting with father Kiernan in the diner she looks 38!
At the end, she looks strangely younger. But then, they softened her skeevy makeup and hairdos for that scene too.

Funny she was actually like 31 when she made the movie but she really looked about 36. She looks good but she had a lot of fine lines you usually start to get in your late 30's. Then when she said she was only 23 I was wondering why they made her so young. They could have easily made her a little older and it wouldn't have changed anything about the movie.

I think they made Frankie 23 because in the film they state that St. Francis of Assisi was 23 when he first got the stigmata.
The weird thing is that St. Francis was NOT 23 when he first got it. He was 42.

I could not sufficiently suspend my disbelief with that because I knew she was much older in real life, but in general people do look older or more mature on screen for whatever reason. When I see contestants on Miss elections I'd swear they are 25 or older while most of them are under 20.

reply

I thought she was supposed to look like she'd had a rough life on her own.
