Silly and flawed but also somewhat cute

I saw this via MST3K and MST3K for this was alright. Nothing really spectacular.

The movie itself was silly and flawed but had a little 80s cute element to it. I was surprised when I found out it was made in 1994. Seemed a bit lacking given it was 1994.

I love time travel movies and this movie had a somewhat decent yet underfleshed out story.
The time travel elements could have been used well but there were lots of silly things and logical inconsistencies -

- why make a plane when the time travel involves software. They obviously went for the speed element a la Back to the Future but didn't explain why they need a small plane for this. He could've just made the software in his own stupid office

- how did the bad CEO guy know where and which time they will fly to at the end? He conveniently ends up right beside the plane back in time

- how did the younger Nick know to go to 1777? He should have not known that

- the whole thing with the Colonials and the battle was a bit silly. No one even bats an eye that there's a plane flying in the sky, people with powerful guns and odd clothes.

The office of the ceo was laughable with random people walking by behind his head.

The special effects were almost nil and laughable.

Poor acting, poor choice of hero, heroine (although she was somewhat cute with her 80s hair), poor choice of villain and the silly sidekick.

I think a remake of this movie would be good and with a slightly tweaked story could be great.
