Were clothing fashions 10 years behind in Vermont?

This film was released in 1994 and yet the clothing worn by the different actors makes the film seem like it was shot in 1984. The dual plaid worn by the main woman was especially hilarious.

Per the trivia section, the movie was shot in 1990 and not released until 1994. The clothes and computer graphics really do have that late '80s/very early '90s look.

I was having exactly the same thought. Even 1990 seems a little too late. I mean, the main character is wearing quite the mullet.
